Born of the desire to create a home for San Francisco Bay Area food entrepreneurs, FoodLab’s goal is to foster ideas and grow small businesses. FoodLab offers kitchen space rentals to mobile food producers, caterers and food artisans. Located in San Francisco’s historic Renoir Hotel, FoodLab is a collaborative, community concept that encourages creativity and provides opportunity to amateurs, professionals and industry leaders to focus on their culinary ambitions.
The FoodLab was founded by three industry veterans: Gabriel Cole, Mark Walker and Matt Cohen. Prior to launching FoodLab, Gabriel Cole held positions with La Cocina and Slow Food Nation and opened three Google kitchens. He is now an Alameda County Certified Small Business Development Center (SBDC) consultant and founder and proprietor of Fare Resources. Mark Walker founded and operated the kitchen for Global Gourmet Catering, a leader in San Francisco catering services. Matt Cohen is the founder and owner of Off the Grid, San Francisco’s most prevalent series of food truck markets stationed across the Bay Area.
